The schools original telephone system was discontinued making support very difficult. It was decided that a new telephone system was required to take the school forward into the next decade.
When choosing a supplier,Grange Park needed to find a cost effective solution from a company who could understand the installation restraints operating within a school environment during term time.
The school contacted Ele Nicolaou of Acorro who had originally implemented the Structured Cabling infrastructure required for the voice and data network within school.
Ele Nicolaou looked at the requirements and made specific recommendations that would solve the day to day communications issues faced by the school.
Although the system is being supported and maintained for faults, it was important the school had some management control over the system, more importantly the messaging and announcements facility.
An auto attendant facility was specified that presented the incoming callers with relevant choices for contacting staff directly. This facility also enables recording of announcements for events such as the sports day and school holiday opening times.
The implementation was completed out of hours to minimise any downtime.
Telephone handsets were installed in more than forty classrooms enabling staff to be contacted instantly by the office. Being such a large school spread over a wide area, this service is now invaluable.
Grange Park School is now probably one of the most technologically advanced primary schools in the borough.
